At nearly 1 million square feet, CPCL Building 2 is well-equipped to manage the operations of Plastic Express. Located on a 99.68-acre site, it features 99-dock doors, two pop-up towers, and twelve rail doors, along with two ramp access points off Veterans Parkway, providing a connection to I-95.
Our team was brought on board to coordinate the project and establish a work structure to keep work on time and within budget.
A cornerstone for this project to be successful included an agreement with the local city government to install drainage infrastructure at a reimbursable cost. We negotiated with the city, managed the construction process, and coordinated between our client, the contractors, and city officials to provide reimbursable items.
Designing for Rail
CPCL Building 2 is rail-served. To ensure proper tie-in, we collaborated with the design team, the rail provider, and the owner to solve the problem of a city drainage ditch, which separated the rail line. A double-barrel culvert was built to facilitate the crossing.
Some of the construction costs were reimbursed by the city, and we managed to track expenses, which helped save the client’s out-of-pocket costs.
Managing Multiple Phases of Work
Our client’s tenant requested early access to the site to begin construction equipment they would need for their operation once the facility opened. It needed to be installed on each side of the building. We collaborated with the contractor and tenant to allow this installation without hindering the construction schedule.
